Early Computer Graphics

Well, while searching for backgrounds for my new WSUM blog, I found this site of early computer graphics and influences.
Which led me to the YouTube videos of one John Whitney.

And obviously, I'm behind the times on this:

Fun Toy

Hard at work making some PSAs, I found this amazing text-to-speech engine that lets you demo it online. While it has a pretty hard time with some basic words (save, manatee), what really makes it great is the number of voices. For instance, there's your typical male and female voices--but then there are some accents. Scottish. British. Annoying. Then there's the real gems, near the bottom--and their names are Dog, Duchess, Shouty, and Whispery. Wow.

Who Fuckin' Knew.

Conan O'Brien, reeling from the writers' strike, is striving harder than ever for fresh material, and his show these past three days has been of higher quality and more consistently funny than ever when he had writers. (Not that I don't support the writers.) But tonight, he unleashed something that I found truly impressive and inspirational: his stunning interpretation of a country-western standard, complete with hillbilly yelps and well-timed acoustic strumming. It's clear that Conan is a highly competent guitarist and singer with a passion for old-time country. I wish I could tell you what song it was, but it was really, honestly very good. YouTube coming as it's available.

We'll See

Well, I found out about a new movie from our friend Roland Emmerich, of Independence Day and Stargate fame:
10,000 BC.

Hard to say yet how boring and mainstream it'll be, but it sure looks like there's a lot of awesome monsters (sabre-toothed tigers, mammoths, etc) and fighting and blood and stuff. C'mon, Roland, pull out another killer one for us. No Jeff Goldblum, though.

Special Comment

Some people have said that NEDRY IS BORN has sold out. They're right. But what's wrong with that? The day two black men, side by side, grace the front page of a major blog is truly a momentous day for history. So was yesterday, when Mr. Obama won the Iowa caucus. If you have any doubt that Obama is the next LeVar Burton, check out motherfucking speech. Spread the word.

In other news: My moustache is more spectacular than ever.

Finally, I want to introduce what I intend to be Obama's entrance theme, for future debates, campaign appearances and inaugurations:
Super Foxes - Penis Boys Entrance Theme
by my new favorite supergroup, a combination of the esteemed Artic Foxes and the as-yet-un-MySpaced Supergun.

Our best press yet

My friends, congratulations on making the Nedry blog before it hits big. We've just received news from an anonymous source that we've been linked on Largehearted Boy as part of a top albums of 2007 list. You'll be happy to know that we were hand-selected as part of only a few featured blogs. Congratulations to us!

In celebration, here is another most gratuitous of gratuitous MP3s on blogs that really shows the innovation we've been seeing on the blogitalodiscohouse craze lately, this time incorporating Sonic 3 samples:
